All ZiggyTec IOT Devices (IAQ Sensors & Utility Meter Readers) are battery powered devices. This means they can be places anywhere within a customer’s building without requiring access to a power supplies.

The measurement data is transmitted directly from the device to a global IOT Network. It is secure and completely independent from the local IT infrastructure. From the IOT Network data is sent to ZiggyTec’c cloud Portal where we process, store and action the data via live displays and alerts.

ZiggyPortal gives you instant access to you indoor air quality and utility data which can be viewed in a web browser, on a screen on the wall or easily connected via API into your other systems.

We monitor and record you indoor air quality and energy usage, 24/7, and alert you when things aren’t right. We continuously analysis the data and classify the result as being good, moderate or poor. We use SMS, Server Sent Events or MQTT to push alerts to your mobile devices, kiosks or display monitors. This gives occupants and managers instant access to the data that matters.
ZiggyTec uses the IOT network provider Sigfox to get the data from our devices straight into the cloud bypassing all local IT infrastructure. This is a key security advantage of our technology; we don’t tap into your wifi or internet. Each device has its own radio transmitter and broadcasts its messages directly to the aerials in your region. Depending on the building construction and the local topography signals can travel up to 50km. Managing this network is all part of ZiggTec’s service to its customer. We continually monitor transmissions and signal strengths to ensure your data gets to where it is needed. Because these devices don’t require any communications connections in your building, means that installation is very fast.
All our devices are battery powered and have a battery life ranging from 5 to 7 years. But you don’t need to worry about battery life as we continuously monitor the battery levels and long before they run out we will dispatch an engineer to your premise to replace the batteries. This is done at our cost and is all part of the service. Being battery operated, means that we don’t tie up your valuable sockets or have cables trailing around you building. Installation of the devices is made easy as there is no wiring involved. Crucially we have the flexibility to place the sensors in the most appropriate locations in the building. So for example when measuring air quality to get an accurate reading it is important that the sensors are placed away from doors, windows and ventilation ports. As we don’t need to locate close to a power socket, we can find the most accurate place for the sensor in the room.
All ZiggTec’s customer data is stored on Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). Amazon S3 is designed for 99.5% of data durability because it automatically creates and stores copies of all S3 objects across multiple systems. All data “in transit” and “in storage” is encrypted using a combination of https and SSE-KMS. This means ZiggyTec’s data is always backed up, secure, available when needed and protected against failures, errors, and threats.
ZiggyPortal is a fully-hosted, web application that enables customers to perform real-time monitoring and reporting of captured data, as well as collaborating with peers in an intuitive web-based environment. The data can be easily downloaded in excel format or imported into you enterprise systems using ZiggyTec API. The data can be used as part of ESG compliance reporting for WELL, GRESB, BREEM and LEED. All this is included is part of the standard service.

carbon dioxide

CO2 is a measure of how much fresh air there is in a building. Outside, in the fresh air, the level of CO2 is 400ppm (parts per million). People breathe in oxygen and breath out CO2, so in indoor occupied spaces, the level of CO2 will naturally rise. With good indoor ventilation, the level of CO2 should stay less than 800ppm. If the readings go higher than 800ppm then there isn’t enough ventilation in your premises. Poor ventilation leads to increased virus load in the air with in turn increases the transmissibility of viruses. Our sensor measures CO2 in the range 0 – 5000ppm using solid-state non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) absorption. The sensors also records temperature and relative humidity. The measurement interval of 30mins is standard but more frequent measurement intervals can be requested to comply with WELL.

particulate matter

PM is air-suspended mixture of both solid and liquid particles and is listed as ‘criteria pollutants’ by the World Health Organisation. These particles include dust, pollen and mould spores. They are separated into three classifications; PM10 (coarse), PM2.5 (fine) and PM1.0 (ultrafine) particles. High levels of PM are a clear indication of poor filter performance in the building.
Our advanced algorithms provide superior accuracy for 3 different PM types. Our sensors have an operation range of 0-1000 μg/m3. The sensors also records temperature and relative humidity. The measurement interval of 30mins is standard but more frequent measurement intervals can be requested. The devices are calibrated in the factory and there is an automatic fan-cleaning procedure triggered weekly to ensure device accuracy.

volatile organic compounds

VOCs are gaseous chemicals emitted from certain solids and liquids with common sources being paints and coatings, building materials, cleaning supplies and various office equipment. Our VOC device uses a metal-oxide gas sensor. The sensing element features an unmatched robustness against contaminating gases present in real-world applications enabling a unique long-term stability and low drift. The operating range is 0-60,000ppb. The sensors also records temperature and relative humidity.
The measurement interval of 30mins is standard but more frequent measurement intervals can be requested if necessary to comply with WELL. The devices are calibrated in the factory before shipping.

measure your utilities remotely

Our utility meter readers operate on the principle of counting the pulses generated by your utility meters. Using our algorithms, we convert this data into ½ hourly consumption usage. Over devices can be added to any type of utility meter, including electricity, gas, water, oil, heat and cooling.
The basic principles are the same regardless of utility type. We attach our sensors to either the optical LED output or the digital open and closed relays that come with all utility meters. The measurement interval of 30mins is standard for all utilities. This is particularly advantageous for detecting water leaks in buildings.

ZiggyAPI is a REST API which allows you or your agents to securely download all your historic data as often as you choose. We use a token mechanism to grant access to the API. Using a GET request with range parameters a customer can ingest all their half hour data in JSON format. The API is part of the standard service – there is no extra charge.
