Irish Health Minister Announces More COVID-19 Funding For Nursing Homes
€42 million extension to TAPS scheme

Ireland's Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly TD has announced new funding of €42 million to help private and voluntary nursing homes respond to the coronavirus pandemic. He commented: "We must slow the spread of COVID-19 throughout our communities in order to protect our vulnerable citizens, including those in long term residential care."
The new funding will be used to extend the Temporary Assistance Payments Scheme (TAPS) up to June 2021. TAPS provides financial assistance towards the costs incurred by private nursing homes in their actions to suppress and manage COVID-19. The latest announcement signals an increase in the amount available through the scheme to a total of €134.5 million.
