FERC Report: Smart Meters Now Make Up 57 Per Cent Of US Fleet
Fed estimates indicate 4--5 per cent annualized growth
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has released its 2020 assessment of smart metering and demand response. The report presents 2018 estimates, the latest available, from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) and from the Institute of Electric Innovation. The two bodies arrive at figures of 86.8 million and 88 million respecitvely, indicating penetrations of 56.4% and 57.1% given the national total of 154.1 million meters.
Approximately 8 million additional advanced meters were installed during 2018, reflecting an ongoing 4--5% annualized growth.
