Belgium Accelerates Smart Meter Goals
Rollout will be largely complete by 2024
Belgian network operator Fluvius has selected three contractors to deliver 4.3 million electricity and gas smart meters by the end of 2024.
The three suppliers are Unit-T; the 3DM consortium comprising Jacops and Van den Berg; and the TeaPlus consortium comprising APK Infra, Esas 3Services, Dierickx Infra, Etwal-Platteau Infra, Fodetra-Hotton Infra and Verbraeken Infra.
Fluvius began installing smart electricity and gas meters in summer 2019, and has already deployed some 500,000 upgraded units. It had previously committed to full replacement of the country's fleet of analogue meters by 2029.
